Could you please tell us the story of your winery, when it was created and how it developed decades after decades ?
Massimago started in 2003 with a project that I had in mind since my childhood, to start and run a winery from the beautiful estate Massimago, which belongs to my family since 1883. Today Massimago is a young and well defined high quality producer, dedicated and committed to its territory, the beautiful Mezzane valley in Valpolicella.
What sort of wines are you producing ?
We produce the main Valpolicella wines : Amarone, Valpolicella superiore, Valpolicella ripasso and Valpolicella doc. Plus a fantastic and unusual sparkling wine from the native grape Corvina veronese.
How important are your export distribution compared to national distribution ?
Every single client is important to us whether he/she prefers our wines from Sidney to Verona. In terms of percentage, today exportation covers about 70% of our sales.
What sort of distributors are your customers ?
We are dedicated to on trade market, and our wines are usually distributed to/by high quality restaurant and fine wines retailers.
Why your wines are different from other wineries in your area ?
Massimago is an ancient cru, a unique combination between position (exposition, altitude), climate, soil types, age of the vineyards. These conditions allow us to have high quality grapes every year, so our production is dedicated to high quality. The main features of our wines are : pronounced aromas (spices, red fruits, flowers), elegant fruitiness and balance between soft tannins, fruit and acidity. Sugar residual are low and the wines show a great flavor and complexity at the palate. Wines for the best connoisseurs.
Do you produce grapes in a organic or environmental friendly method, or with general methods ?
We are organic producers since 2011, and since the beginning we are committed in preserving the biodiversity in our estate and increasing the sustainability. Solar pannels have been introduced several years ago to reduce the electricity consumption.
Are your wines already distributed in Asia, and if not what are the countries you are looking for new distributors ?
We have been distributed in Japan and China non continuosly and will approach Singapore market shortly. We are eager to develop prosperous and long term collaborations in the main Asian markets.
Is there anything who want to add about your wines, story or any news ?
We hope to have very soon the opportunity to share a glass of Massimago with new passionate people who love Italy and Valpolicella, and have not had the opportunity to know Massimago yet. There’s no better ambassador than a glass of wine !
