The San Giuseppe Agricultural Company is entirely family owned and operated. Giovanni Battistella, a former building contractor who believed in the potential of Prosecco and the possibility of breaking into the Italian wine scene and beyond, founded it in 1989 out of his enthusiasm for wine and his homeland.

San Giuseppe Agricultural Company are now have a state-of-the-art cellar thanks to the purchase of the first vineyards in the municipality of San Pietro di Feletto, where the company headquarters is located, and a greater understanding of their means thanks to significant expenditures.

He has been in charge of the company for several years, but it is as though his son Carlo, a Viticulture and Oenology graduate, has always been there, following in his father’s footsteps and symbolizing the present and future of the family business.

Conegliano Valdobbiadene is a hilly location 50 kilometers from Venice and roughly 100 kilometers from the Dolomites. Although viticulture in this area extends back thousands of years, the first written mention of Prosecco in this region dates from 1772.

The historical production region has remained limited to 15 municipalities since the DOC was introduced in 1969. Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, the cultural capital and the productive heart, respectively, give it its name.

Interview of Asia Awards to Mr. BATTISTELLA CARLO      


Question 1: Do you already export to Asia ? If yes, where ? If no, what type of importers & distributors are you looking for in Asia ?

Answer : In this moment we are not exporting in Asia but we are looking for expanding our presence in that area because we think that it could be the new market for our products especially Sparklings Prosecco Superiore Docg. We need littles importers and distributors that can give us a support to introduce our wines in specialized wine shops, restaurants, bars and hotel.

Question 2: What is the most unique and qualitative part of your products, different from competitors ?

Answer : Our company is a familiar winery that produce 90 % of bottles from grapes of owned vineyards; our philosophy is to produce grapes and wines respecting the terroir and environment especially with integrate agriculture. The oenologist Carlo is the son of owner and follows every single step of production, from vineyards to the winery. Quality is the only mission of our job.

Question 3: When did you start to export your brand worldwide, and what is your development plan for the next years ?

Answer : We start to export 30 years ago and every year we try to continue and increase our presence in more countries; we would do international fairs, promoting our wines with B2B meeting and participate to important wine AWARDS to be recognized all over the world.
