Cantine Due Palme is the story of a dream; and the vision of this man born into the third generation of a local winemaking family who having inherited the winery, then invested his own great passion and his love for this land.
Angelo Maci is certainly no exception; the opposite in fact. Uprooting him from the depths of Salento – where he was born in 1943 – from its vines and that fervent, amiable community would deprive him of every trusted point of reference. That is, the topos and humus, in which his personality grew. It is the only route to understanding the role played by the man; or rather, his daring projects and legitimate ambitions.

A MODERN WINERY
Cantine Due Palme is a Social Cooperative established in 1989. There were only 15 members in the beginning and today the Company has 1,000 growers who own between them 2,500 Ha of vineyard between the provinces of Brindisi, Lecce and Taranto . Over this period Due Palme has merged with 4 other large wineries: ex-Produttori Agr. in Cellino, Fondiaria Reform in Cellino (founded in 1955), Cantina Sociale Angelini in San Pietro Vernotico (1961), Cantina SanGaetano in Lizzano (1959) and Cantina Riforma Fondiaria in Monteroni Arnesano (1960). The main headquarters of the Cooperative is situated in Cellino San Marco, the beating heart of all commercial activities and vinification, and measures 45,000 square meters. The highlight of the production is the cellar. Here the finest wines are aged and stored in barrels of French and American oak, giving a total capacity of 10.000Hl of wine. The cellar overlooks the beautiful “Selvarossa” conference room with 800 sets, which houses the weekly growers’ meetings. Unique in the world because it is inside the cellar, it measures 1,500 square meters and is 5 meters underground. Here in 2014 a unique project in Italy called “Palmetta” has been carried out together with Simonit & Sirch Group: a pruning school consisting of the realignment of plants in the “Alberello Pugliese” vineyards. This allows the mechanical harvest and superior quality production. Thus, the history of Cantine Due Palme becomes the story of an entire territory. 500 square meters and is 5 meters underground. Here in 2014 a unique project in Italy called “Palmetta” has been carried out together with Simonit & Sirch Group: a pruning school consisting of the realignment of plants in the “Alberello Pugliese” vineyards. This allows the mechanical harvest and superior quality production.

TASTING NOTES:An intense red wine with purple highlights. Its bouquet appears very complex and elegant. On the nose it explodes with hints of roasted coffee bean, ripe cherry and plum, combined with spicy notes of vanilla. Harmoniously balanced and velvety on the palate, with a delicate balance of tannins it is full-bodied and delicious, with the rich underlying sweetness typical of wines made with dried grapes.
SELVAROSSA SALICE SALENTINO ROSSO RISERVA

TASTING NOTES: The color is an intense ruby with scarlet highlights; the bouquet has enticing notes of cherry jam, dates, vanilla and liquorice. On the palate red berry fruits dominate with undertones of toasty oak; the finish is warm and spicy with well-integrated tannins. Perfect as a wine of meditation ….. and of conversation!

TASTING NOTES: A ruby red color with a complex and elegant nose showing hints of raspberry and pomegranate. In the mouth it has a soft tannins with complex flavors and good length of finish.
SERRE SUSUMANIELLO SALENTO IGP

TASTING NOTES: A deep ruby red in color with blue depths; on the nose red fruits dominate with notes of graphite pencil to finish. On the palate it shows a splendid balance between ripe fruit and minerality. An excellent long finish.
It should also be mentioned that it is particularly rich in anthocyanins which are anti-oxidants have numerous health benefits.

TASTING NOTES: An intense ruby red color with scarlet reflections; harmonious on the nose with notes of ripe red fruits and lightly spicy. In the mouth it is elegant and soft with low acidity and very ripe tannins.
