Interview of Ms.Ludivine Cécillon – Asia Manager – Jaillance for AsiaImportNews – Exclusive

Could you please tell us the story of your winery, when it was created and how it developed decades after decades ?

Jaillance was created in the 1950’s under the leadership of Henri Bonnet, who gathered a group of winegrowers who agreed to work on a cooperative basis, seeing this as a way of developing their production and commercialization. In 2001, Jaillance brand saw the light of day. Branding allowed the cooperative to develop the scope of its influence and become a recognised expert and reference in French sparkling wines. Armed with a new name, Jaillance also announced their intention to extend the range of sparkling wines they offered. In the same year, they acquired Brouette Petit-Fils, a company based in Bordeaux thus becoming the leading producer of Crémant de Bordeaux, both white and rosé. And so a new sparkling AOC wine specialist was born.

Jaillance is today France’s leading producer and the number 1 AOC Sparkling Wine Brand in France.

Located in the heart of France renowned production regions of Bordeaux and Rhone Valley, Jaillance produces unique quality sparkling wines: Clairette de Die, Cremant de Die and Cremant de Bordeaux.

Jaillance – Beautiful view

Do you produce grapes in a organic or environmental friendly method, or with general methods ?

Organic Agriculture

As a real pioneer, Jaillance started with Organic Farming in 1989. So as to last in time, to respect the heritage and out of love for their land, the Jaillance winemakers commit themselves to respect nature and preserve diversity. In concrete terms, this means that, amongst other things, they use organic compost or enrichment maters on the vines. To date, almost 15% of the vineyard (that is to say 128 hectares), is organic (against 3,1% on a nationwide average). To do so, the winery has set up a process of a « sensible farming Method » on the rest of the vineyards, via an internal charter based on the ISO 14001 standards and on the reference book of sensible farming.

Sustainable development

In 2006, Jaillance opts for a comprehensive approach to respect the environment and is certified ISO 14001. This is materialized by a reduction of 25% in water consumption and the management of 90% of sorted waste. Saving energy is at the heart of the Cave’s strategy and in 2011 Jaillance decides to set up solar panels. Thanks to 12 000 metre square of solar panels, the company produces 50% of its needs. Cellar buildings (4 000 m2) and individual buldings of winemakers (8 000 m2), this investment aims at satisfying the modern expectations of the consumer : in search of quality products at affordable prices made by companies that respect the environment.
